Do i have to start over in maplestory?

Well I started playing maplestory and I just got my rouge but, I had previously put a little stat points into strength and hp and mp not much it was mostly in luck and dex. Now most sites about ins say i should start over do I really have to start over? I really don't want to but, i also don't want to be an incredibly weak in.
