In Final Fantasy X, I cannot get the couple in Macalania to ask me to find there child. i need Celest. Mirror.?

I need the parents to need me to get thier child, becasue after they do, i go to the child and the Cloudy Mirror turns into The Celestial Mirror. I don't know what they are witing for to ask me, whatever it is they need to hurry up! please tell me anything that may factor into their not asking.
