What is the best 30-06 deer hunting ammo?

i was wondering what would be the best deer hunting ammo. like what type of bullet (ballistic tip, hollow point, soft point, etc.) and what grain would be recommended. when i hunt we are walking all the time through forest and on hills and in short brush. so would like good range (200-300 yards) but also good for close range. thanks
